As a youth Sherman's work was critiqued by his high school teacher and he later took several painting and drawing classes at -
the local community college in Detroit Michigan .
Much later he made his own assessments and self studies about art by copying the old masters at different museums .
The genre that best fits his style is a combination of impressionism and abstract expressionism.
Sherman basically paints everything and likes to "go after things that move"
